In a recent interview with Clement Afreh, CEO of CBCInc Hypes, Japhet Adjetey shared insights into his latest song, “Glorious.” The interview delved into the origins of the song, Adjetey’s songwriting process, and the response from the public since its release. Here are the highlights of the interview:
Clement Afreh (CBCInc Hypes CEO): Hey, Gospel music enthusiasts! Today, I’ve got the pleasure of sitting down with the incredible Japhet Adjetey to dive into the inspiration and journey behind his latest song, “Glorious.” Japhet, welcome! Let’s jump right in.
Clement Afreh: First things first, what’s the title of your new song, and who’s the brilliant mind behind the lyrics?
Japhet Adjetey: Thanks, Clement! The title is “Glorious,” and by God’s grace I’m the vessel favored by God to download this song from the corridors of heaven.
Clement Afreh: Nice! So, have you ever had someone else write a song for you before?
Japhet Adjetey: Interestingly, no. I’m usually the one behind all the songs released so far. as is same this time with “Glorious”.
Clement Afreh: That’s awesome! Now, spill the beans. What other songwriters have penned tunes for you in the past, and can you share some of those titles?
Japhet Adjetey: Oh, I’ve had the pleasure of writing for various artists and groups in and out of Ghana. Songs I have written include “Majie Oyi” and “Bra,” by Overflow Inc., “Kemi Afee,” by Team Eternity Ghana, “Gye W’ayeyi” and “Gratitude” by Kweku Kwame. Not forgetting “Gyidie” by Kyei Mensah which we co-wrote. Some songs I have written are still in the pipeline, but it’s been a great journey.
Clement Afreh: Impressive! Now, let’s zoom in on “Glorious.” When did you release it, and what was the spark behind this soulful creation?
Japhet Adjetey: “Glorious” was released recently, and the spark came from God Himself. It was crafted specifically as a theme song for Glorious Service, an annual worship service that God placed on my heart. During prayer, the melody just started playing in my spirit, and as I delved into the scriptures, I found inspiration in Zachariah 2:5.
Clement Afreh: Wow, divine inspiration at its finest! Now, give us a sneak peek into your songwriting process. How do these melodies and lyrics come to you?
Japhet Adjetey: You know, it’s a bit of everywhere! Quiet times, worship services, preaching sessions, prayer moments, and yes, even in dreams. I connect with the Holy Spirit, and that’s when the magic happens.
Clement Afreh: That sounds like a beautiful process! Now, about “Glorious,” what message do you want your listeners to take away from this uplifting piece?
Japhet Adjetey: I want everyone to feel assured that God desires to dwell among His people. The presence of God brings peace, joy, and everything good. So, as they open their hearts and let the music sink in, every desire they have becomes attainable in that divine moment.
Clement Afreh: Powerful! And for those eager to soak in the vibes, where can they find “Glorious” for streaming or download?
Japhet Adjetey: It’s all there on YouTube, Apple Music, Spotify, Boomplay, and basically, every music streaming platform out there. Easy to find and enjoy!
Clement Afreh: Fantastic! Now, spill the tea, Japhet. How’s the public responding to “Glorious” so far? Any shoutouts to those who’ve been cheering you on?
Japhet Adjetey: The response has been overwhelming, especially at my home church, Royalhouse Chapel International. Massive support there! Shoutout to Glovers Hub, Music 01, CBC Inc, and all the amazing folks who’ve been sharing and resharing. Big love to MOGmusic and Rev. Kojo Frimpong of Joy FM for the continuous support.
Clement Afreh: That’s incredible! Before we wrap up, tell us about your previous release. What was your last song, and when did it drop?
Japhet Adjetey: Just a month before “Glorious,” I released “God is Good” featuring Enuonyam. Both songs were recorded at Glorious Service 2023 in March.
Clement Afreh: Finally, any plans for hosting your own annual music event? What’s the scoop on that?
Japhet Adjetey: Absolutely! Glorious Service is my brainchild, a God-given vision to gather His people and let them experience His presence through worship with new sounds. We live-record every event, and it’s been a beautiful journey.
Clement Afreh: That sounds amazing! Now, any parting words for the gospel music community in Ghana and beyond?
Japhet Adjetey: Let’s all dive deeper into our connection with the Holy Spirit and ensure our music ministry is purpose-driven, with Jesus right at the center.
Clement Afreh: Amen to that! And for those looking to invite you for a program, how can they reach you? What are your social media handles?
Japhet Adjetey: Find me @japhetadjetey on all social media platforms, and for invitations, shoot me an email at japhetadjetey.info@gmail.com.
