Dear Gospel Artiste
When it comes to getting feedback on your songs before their release, it’s important to be selective about who you entrust with this task. While reviews can provide valuable insights, not everyone knows how to offer constructive criticism. Some individuals may try to find faults where none exist simply because they fear giving you a big ego.
Constructive criticism is essential, but it should never demoralize you. Beware of sending your songs to people who lack musical knowledge, as they may not even understand the basics, such as how many keys there are on a piano. It’s worth noting that some songs may not immediately strike a chord upon first listen, but with repeated listening, they can resonate and make much more sense.
Consider this: your reviewer will likely listen to your song just once and provide feedback. What can you realistically expect from such an approach? Furthermore, some reviewers may dismiss your song outright without giving it a fair chance. Yes, it’s true that some songs don’t impress at first, but that doesn’t apply to all songs. So, why would you repeatedly subject yourself to such a person who consistently kills your vibe before your release?
Another important consideration is the stage of your song’s production. If you’re sending a fully mixed and mastered song to a reviewer, what exactly do you expect them to do? It’s crucial to choose the right moment in your song’s development for feedback and suggestions.
To ensure valuable feedback and guidance for your music, it’s essential to find specific constructive music listeners/reviewers for your ministry. Not every radio/TV presenter, artist manager, legend, blogger, or DJ is necessarily a reviewer. Seek individuals who have experience in providing constructive criticism and have a deep understanding of music.
In your search for reviewers, may you find more grace and guidance. If you need recommendations for good reviewers, feel free to send a direct message (DM).
