It’s concerning that our generation often prioritizes being the ‘champion of debates’ over the ‘champion of relationships.’ Too often, we choose to win arguments but lose friendships. We’d rather defend our pride than preserve our bonds.

Newsflash: You can’t hug a trophy, but you can hug a person. Let’s make a conscious effort to prioritize people over pride and love over being right. After all, what’s the point of winning an argument if it costs you the heart of someone you care about? Instead, let’s strive to be champions of compassion.

True friendship is the anchor that holds us steady during life’s storms. It’s an unwavering bond that remains unshaken, even amidst turmoil. In those moments when the winds howl and the thunder roars, the strength of your friendship is revealed.

Is it a bond of unity, standing shoulder to shoulder as you face the storm together? Or is it a fragile thread, easily broken under pressure?

The storm will reveal the truth. It will show whether your friendship is a fortress built on mutual support, trust, and love—or a house of cards, fragile and fleeting.

But here’s the beauty: when you emerge from the storm stronger and more resilient, you’ll know that your friendship is a treasure worth fighting for. Such a bond can weather any storm and shine brighter than the sun itself.

If you flee from small tremors, how will you brave the earthquakes ahead? Every small storm is an opportunity to strengthen your foundation.

Will you retreat, or will you rise?

As Scripture reminds us:

• “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God” (Matthew 5:9).
• “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid” (John 14:27).
• “A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity” (Proverbs 17:17).
