The Sing Like Obaapa (SLOPA ‘24) competition showcased an extraordinary display of vocal talent and passion, culminating in a thrilling grand finale on 24th November 2024 at the Disciples of Christ Ministries, Weija Junction, Accra. The event, which began with a media launch at the Obaapaessen Courtyard on 18th November 2024, drew gospel music enthusiasts and supporters from across Ghana.
The competition, designed to discover and celebrate singers who could emulate the vocal prowess of Rev. Obaapa Christy, attracted numerous contestants. Over several rounds, the best talents emerged, culminating in a gripping final. The atmosphere at the finale was electric as each contestant took to the stage, performing songs that have become gospel anthems.
Nana Yaa Evelyn captivated the judges and the audience with her renditions of Afei Na Mate Woase, Oko Yi, Okramanfunuba, and Wagye Me, securing first place. Nana Yaw Prince delivered an equally powerful performance with Animguase3 Ntoma, Yare3 Yeya, Bo Abrabo Papa, and Hyebre Sesafo, earning the runner-up position. Nora Brown followed closely with soulful versions of Dane Wani Hw3 Me, T3kyer3ma Da Abodwe3 Mu, Ma Wonsane, and Ebesesa (It Will Change).
