A MOMENT OF HONOUR: EDWIN DADSON.
Written by Rev. Dr. Patrick Owusu
This week, I choose to honour seasoned praise and worship leaders in our country, Ghana. Their value is unmatched as these ministers of God, through glorified melodies help the body of Christ to attract God’s presence in our lives.
I start with PASTOR EDWIN DADSON. I got to know him way back on KNUST campus( GOSPEL EXPLOSION OF IHCF) in the early part of the year, 2005. What is unique about his present style of leading praise and worship? The following are my thoughts:
1. AVAILABILITY
He is a Holy Spirit-filled man. He carries the presence of God which I believe is long hours of prayer and deep studying of the Word of God. He has therefore availed himself to be used by the Holy Spirit.
2. SELECTION OF HIS SONGS
He fully prepares well concerning the selection of the right songs needed to carry people in God’s presence. If you are sensitive to the Spirit of God, the flow of each praise or worship song he raises is as a result of meticulous planning. That alone is hard work. Hours spent rehearsing at the back stage leads to major performance.
Maturity is also another major key in the choice of the right song for a specific atmosphere and not any mere song to impress the audience. If you watch EDWIN’S style, you realize that every song he raises, the audience easily flow with him. That’s maturity. There are other music ministers, who only pick songs known by them whilst their audience are left in the sea of nowhere.
3. TEAM EFFORT
EDWIN believes in team spirit. On the stage, you can see the perfect co-ordination between him and Ella, and finally all the backing vocalists(BVs). Sometimes, some praise and worship leaders have no connection with the BVs, making the impact of the songs, less felt.

4. HUMILITY
One of the virtues I admire about EDWIN DADSON is his humility. This is what most music ministers do not have. There is a difference between charisma and character. The former exposes you to the world but the latter establishes your ministry to enjoy an enduring effect. It is dangerous for a music minister to have charisma but no character. Allow the two to work in your life and you shall go far. When you stay humble under the right leadership, God takes you far. That is what EDWIN DADSON is enjoying today.
5. CONSISTENT IN CHURCH
Understanding his core mandate as a praise and worship leader, his attendance to church is never compromised. No lateness. No laziness. But being focused on his major assignment is the fruit we are all enjoying today. Keep it up, EDWIN. How many praise leaders do stay in one living church continuously for years? Fame, popularity and other negative attitudes have drifted some of our finest praise and worship leaders elsewhere.
6. SUPPORT FROM THE CHURCH
I believe the height EDWIN DADSON is enjoying today is as a result of the covering he is under. I pray he doesn’t take it for granted. If you belong to a set-up with appreciable resources and leadership also places value on quality sound, quality musical equipment and resource the music ministers well, their best can easily come out.
Some of our churches with enough resources should take good care of our music ministers. The latter must also be patient not to put unnecessary pressure on leadership if they do not have enough resources as compared to other resourced churches. However, the little they do temporarily receive should be properly appreciated. Most at times, it is this act of little appreciation that opens the door for a bigger blessing.

7. CHOICE OF A LIFE PARTNER
No matter your height, if you do not have the right partner backing you, your ministry will crush down. By grace, EDWIN has a solid life partner who understands his ministry and fully supports him. To the unmarried, this is a good advice for you. It’s dangerous to choose a life partner, solely based on the person’s physical appearance at the expense of character and the willingness to give you the needed support. Remember, a sound mind is needed to lead God’s people to praise and worship Him. So, let the Spirit of God lead you to make the right choice.
To EDWIN DADSON, keep on staying focused. There are more glorious adventures ahead of you. The world is waiting for you. Keep on relying on the Holy Spirit. THIS IS YOUR TIME.
I love you MORE!
