Amy Newman was on Empire 102.7 FM, Takoradi for an interview for her new single I’m Redeemed which was released on 24th August 2022. This interview was with Feeling Daddy, the host of Show Biz Today on Saturday, the 27th Of August 2022 as part of her radio tour.
In a chat with mummy Amy Newman, she shared her displeasure at the poor journalism done by the bloggers who have misinterpreted what she said during the interview and how their insatiable lust to be in the trends and reap any monetary or social gains they may intend to reap from it, has misinformed the general public and caused many, including family, friends, colleague artistes, loved ones and the media to reach out to her non-stop to confirm or refute this publication.
The host started by planning a song from Evg. Mrs. Amy Newman and introduced her on the show. He then complimented Amy Newman on her ever glowing beauty. She blushed and responded that God’s grace was responsible for it. He asked where she has been all this while and if she had stopped singing. She responded that sometimes God hides you. He requires that you retreat and hear from Him, so you can receive the message to send to the world.
Your support system?
In answer to a question, Amy Newman hinted that the release of her new single I’M REDEEMED, was to honour God, to celebrate her husband and to appreciate a couple in Takoradi (Mr and Mrs Wayo) of WAYO Engineering who have been a great support to ministry. Amy Newman speaks fondly of how she met the couple. After her ministration at their event, the wife noted with pleasure how Amy still had the grace of God on her life and asked why she wouldn’t go back to the studio. Which she responded that “)ny3 b3t3 saa” (meaning, it is not that easy). Mrs Wayo said, if you are ready, I’m also ready to support you to do what ever you want to do. So this new song is dedicate to Mr and Mrs Wayo for stepping in as a ministry support.
Feeling Daddy asked about how long she has been married, and she responded 44years. She God married in 1979. The host talked about her song “Tsie Me moborsu” which in a past interview brought her to tears as she sang it live in the studio. Amy Newman mentioned that the song’s inspiration came from Psalm 13 and was released in the year 2000. When one goes through situation, with no way to turn to, either left or right, the best place to look is up to God.
Amy Newman mentioned that many or the current generation doesn’t know about the trailblazers and their songs. Many of their songs a sang by people at events and some even use them for covers and are credited with the songs.
When inquired about a past interview at Beach FM on the matter, she responded that a when God gives you a gift, you eat from it. She said how social media was not yet available in their time, but now many have taken their songs and done covers with them and enjoy the benefits and gains that accrue from it, at expense of the original song owner. People come to her with the notion that if your songs are being sung by others, she should keep quite and take it like that. She mentioned that it is expected that such a person will come to ask for permission and also sow a seed into the life of the artiste whose song(s) you wish to sample or remake or do a cover for.
Feeling Daddy now asked if there is any difference between the gospel songs of old and the current generations songs. She decided there are notable differences. Everyone has a different call and destiny. The trailblazers were doing ministry solely without the thought of money. Amy Newman mentioned that she loves a lot of the young artistes she has come across, and stated that the current generation also has music industry as part of why they do ministry, and their songs are going far. She hinted that many of the young generation do not heed advice or consult the trailblazers.

Any regrets in ministry?
When asked if she regrets how she did ministry, Amy Newman gave and emphatic NEVER! She never regrets focusing on ministry and not money during her years of ministry, and is happy with the number of souls that have been won as a result of the work of ministry over the years. She said she will never go hungry.
Amy Newman shared, “I have advanced in age but I do not need to depend on another for everything I need. My husband has also advanced in age. Though I am not working as a source of income, I still need money to do things. For example the recording and coming out of a new single. I used money to make this happen. And I need people to support me. My husband may not have that kind of money to support me to do go to the studio at the moment so God brought in people and they supported me.”
About the song
For a while I have been reflecting on my life and how much has changed in my life. And one day in my reflection, this song came up. So I called Kaywa (I now call him Prophet Kaywa) and told him that I want to come and sing this song I have gotten and he said, Oh why not.
When I got there I told him, proph, I am sick o, and he said, mummy I know. I had not spoken with him on what I was going through yet. The way he said it indicated that spiritually he had sensed what I was feeling.
After singing the song to him, he said mummy I feel that this song is too short. Then he added to the song. What he added to the song was everything I was going through at the time. He wrote the bridge and helped me make the song complete. Wherever I go, I will always mention him, and Emma and his wife Getrude for helping me on this new song titled I’M REDEEMED.
What I went through in 2019 has strengthened my faith and resolve in God’s constant love, care and support for me. He always got my back. It is God’s grace that has brought me thus far. You may be going through a trying time, through fire, but God wants you to go through it at that point in time. So I know and believe that anyone who is going through similar or other issues in their lives will be liberated as they listen to this song.
How was the feeling like performing at the Western Music Awards
Seeing my regional minister and many dancing as I sang, that gave me great joy. I was received so well. It was very obvious that many have missed me. I didn’t sing the new song there because it was not yet released.
Have you made money from music?
I have never made money from music because I have not had a manager or management to take up that aspect. My husband was doing his work and I was taking care of the children. We just loved doing God’s work, and seeing people blessed by my singing.
After the my first single “Lord prepare me” God told me that “any song I give you to sing, there are souls attached to it” and that was my joy. But I didn’t know much about the other side of it nor having helpers who would show me the ropes. My husband was taking good care of me so I was all about the about the ministry. So I left it and others were reaping from my labour. Knowing what I know now, if given the chance to redo, I would have taken some other decisions in the past.
Have you thought about a concert?
I will be glad if the management will put up something like this.
Your final words
I tell my fans that they should expect more from me. So they should be ready to follow, support, share and stream.
