Ghanaian Gospel Music Is Making Waves But Lacks International PR

Sista Ginna CEO of gospelhypers, in a post on Facebook narrates the massive strides Ghanaian Gospel Music is making in recent times but highlighted the lack of intentional PR.

In the realm of music, Ghanaian gospel artists are making waves and rewriting the narrative, yet their achievements often go unnoticed. Recently, amidst the chatter of Nigerian dominance on the Apple Top 100 songs, Team Eternity Ghana defied the odds. Their album soared to unprecedented heights, claiming top spots on the charts with 11 songs securing a place in the coveted Top 100.

She narrated that, this accomplishment received scant attention from entertainment critics and chart updaters, highlighting the bias against gospel music. While secular successes garner headlines and acclaim, gospel artists often toil in obscurity, their triumphs overshadowed by the glamour of the mainstream.

Take, for instance, Emmanuel Smith, a UK-based Ghanaian gospel artist whose concerts consistently sell out prestigious venues like the Indigo O2. His upcoming event on June 22, 2024, sold out within hours of ticket release, a testament to the fervent support of gospel music enthusiasts.

Similarly, Joe Mettle’s electrifying performance at the NLP Conference 2024 in London’s OVO Arena showcased the undeniable impact of gospel music on a global stage. Despite lacking the fanfare of secular counterparts, gospel artists continue to captivate audiences and command significant followings.

It’s time to acknowledge the prowess of Ghanaian gospel music and recognize the resilience of its practitioners. Behind the scenes, these artists are shaping culture, spreading hope, and touching lives with their profound messages. So, the next time a gospel artist claims the spotlight, let’s celebrate their achievements and honor their contributions to the music industry. After all, success knows no genre, and talent speaks volumes, regardless of the spotlight it receives.
